which is all well and good, but the writing style he used is old ...

The book is not what it seems...the author needed an editor. I found myself reading an interesting account and the next thing I know the author goes off into a dry history lesson, which is all well and good, but the writing style he used is old fashion and boring. A better account of the d'Hauteville Case could of been achieved if he "painted" a better picture of the times and the characters using interesting descriptions. It seems as though his notes were just transcribed into sections. The subject is most interesting it could of been a wonderful read.

good information and very thorough, but very slow and repetative

This book has some great information about the changing view of the role of mothers and fathers in their children's lives and the role of courts in deciding custody, but it is 4x longer than a straight forward analysis would require. Good and engaging, but I also found myself skimming.
