Rebels WITH a cause.

A sorely missing element in the psychological field these days, focused as it is on the micro vs. macroscopic perspectives on human behavior. Not one OR the other, but both/and, and I feel that balance has been lost, at least for now. I obtained this book after recalling from perhaps decades ago an article in the Monitor re: psychologists who were hired during the Depression era and whose work fanned out through, I believe, NYC and surrounds (the focus of the article's analysis). It was very impressive to me at the time, especially considering the beneficial effect FREE and dedicated, highly trained individuals could have on various public institutions. This book goes into the underpinnings of a "psychologically minded" social perspective of that era and I think makes a valuable contribution for those with an interest in practical applications of psychology, etc. Surely there is a need now perhaps more than ever.
