Good general introduction for technically oriented reader

Well organized book which ranges over the topics of general design principles to the mechanics of pressure hulls, boyancy, propolusion and underwater hydrostatics. For the technicaly oriented beginner, insights into the specifics design parameters suffer by the authours' frequent ommission of definitions for their terms. Overall well worth the time to orienting oneself to the subject of submarine design.

Good technical look at sub design

The guy who didn't like this book must not have read anything other than the back cover. I used this book when studying for engineering quals on the USS Albuquerque, and it was of great assistance to me. It does have some flaws, which would mainly be an issue for people with no exposure to naval engineering. That being said, it's readable enough that anyone can learn quite a bit about submarine design. The discussions on hull shape,drag, and propulsion alone are worth the price.

Excellent book for anyone interested on submarines.

This book offers excellent information from a military point of view but, it is extremly usefull for any submersible. The language is extremly simple even for non-navy oriented readers. The ilustrations are very clear and the book covers from history of military subs to almost how to plan its construction.
