Should be considered basic and essential reading in James scholarship

Excellent read. Lamberth clearly understands the importance of radical empiricism in James's philosophy and how it goes beyond and replaces the theory of consciousness and thought in James's Principles of Psychology. He also has a satisfactory understanding of the importance of religion for James. I would've liked to see a tighter connection between James's theory of moral philosophy and ideals in connection with his philosophy of religion and philosophical theology, and the importance of the last lecture in the Pragmatism lectures with regard to this connection. But still, I feel it is rare enough for someone to really appreciate how significant radical empiricism is for James, and it's a pleasure to see such a full understanding of it in Lamberth's book.
