About the Author
Hilda L. Smith is Professor of History at the University of Cincinnati. She is the author of Reason s Disciples: Seventeenth-Century English Feminists (1982) and two edited volumes, Women Writers and the Early Modern British Political Tradition (1998) and Women's Social and Political Thought: An Anthology (2000), coedited with Berenice Carroll.

From a student of history

Doctor Smith has a keen grasp of the subject matter which allowed her to combine others and her work into an interesting book. This work allows the reader to gain a new insight into the different views on women's history and history in general. Furthermore, I found her to be an even better instructor than author and enjoyed the learning and time I spent with her at the University of Cincinnati. I encourage those who can attend her lectures to do so and those who cann't to read this work and her others.
